Heading off to a new con on Friday. This one in San Diego. I like the theme: Death and Beyond. They've got some great programming centering around dying and heroism and the technology of immortality. Timothy Zahn is the GoH, and among others attending will be David Brin and Vernor Vinge.

The Condor is, of course ConDor's mascot. The condor was selected because the ongoing condor program at the San Diego Zoo was just getting started, and San Diego fandom wanted to celebrate it. The dragon is Conjecture's mascot. Conjecture being San Diego's other relaxacon. Both conventions share local fans and pros, you're apt to see Vinge and Brin at either. BTW, keep your eyes open for Pharyngulium Not-Events. The First Annual Pharyngulium being a not-convention inside a convention. Not-events can not-happen most any time, any where Pharyngulites get to gether to gab 'bout most anything. Pharyngula is where I got the inspiration.

I like it. In line with my blog title, It Ain't Real, the Pharynguliums could be subtitled, It Ain't Happening.
